Andrew Gillott
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Victoria. He attended the MTI Broadway Teachers Workshop in New York and is the recipient of the 2016 Abbotsford Arty Award for Outstanding Theatre Artist. Andrew has 20 years of experience teaching drama and music to students ages 3 to adult. As a BC Certified Teacher, Andrew also has experience in K-7 public school classrooms.
Andrew has a strong background in live theatre as an actor, writer and director including acting in a leading role in the Victoria Shakespeare Festival, writing and directing a play for the Victoria Fringe Kids Fest as well as recent roles with local theatre groups; Secondary Characters, Theatre in the Country and Bard in the Valley. This past winter Andrew was invited to adjudicate for two Regional Thesby Festivals. In recent years Andrew also enjoyed branching out to acting for the camera, acting in a short student film and a full length independent film.
As the drama program coordinator and teacher, Andrew instructs weekly drama classes and organizes and directs 4 major productions a year, plus several in-class performances. As the Artistic Director, Andrew plays a key role in conceiving the idea for, producing, directing and running our huge Year End Show, our Mainstage productions and more!
Andrew is a patient, outgoing and creative teacher, who brings energy, enthusiasm and artistic knowledge to his drama classes.
